Welcome to the Argenta-Oreana Junior League
Football (JFL) site and the 2009 Football Season. The site is
fully updated for the 2009 Season.
2009 Dates to Remember:
- Friday September 11 - JFL Night at HS
Varsity Game
- Friday September 25 - Homecoming Parade
- Saturday October 10 - Equipment Return
(Space Center)
- Saturday October 17 - JFL Banquet (Prairie
Park)
The goals of Argenta-Oreana JFL are to:
- Make football a fun experience for our
children to maintain interest in the sport.
- Teach football skills, rules and strategy
to our players.
- Model and teach competitiveness with an
emphasis on good sportsmanship.
- Promote increased self-esteem among our
children.
Football is offered to 3rd through
8th grade students. The teams are divided into classifications of
Lightweights and Heavyweights. The heavyweights consist of 7th
and 8th grade students and the lightweights consist of 3rd, 4th, 5th and
6th grade students. The lightweights are further divided into an A
team and a B team. The A team consists mainly of 6th and 5th grade
students and the B team consists of mainly 3rd and 4th grade students.
The lightweights are divided into two teams due to the wider range of
experience between the age groups to allow for more evenly matched
skill levels.
The A/O JFL is a member of the Little Illini
Football League. Games are scheduled to match football programs of
similar size. Based on the large numbers in the program this year,
the A/O JFL will field three separate teams this season. Lightweight
B Team games, Lightweight A Team games and Heavyweight
games for the most part will be played on the same day, normally a Saturday or Sunday.
Lightweight B will play the first game, Lightweight A next and Heavyweights will play the
third game. There are some exceptions, so see the games link for A/O JFL schedules.
We hope this web site provides helpful information
on A/O JFL and we encourage you to attend our games and cheer on
our Bomber football teams. |
